Evaluating the viability and impact of managed care plan contracting in urgent care is one of the most over-looked components of the business by providers.

We find that providers, on their own, are much more likely to accept the standard agreement terms of a given payor's payment and contracting terms than if they are represented by someone experienced in the process and in what is reasonable and competitive.

The contracting process is a time to fully communicate and negotiate the value that an urgent care center brings to the table and not just a time to focus on fees being paid.  There are multiple value considerations for both the payor and the provider and UCA is the best in the business at placing the focus where it should be in the negotiation process.

Plans must be re-negotiated periodically and communications between the plan representatives and the urgent care center must be on-going.  UCA offers its services to negotiate initial contracting terms (for the new center) but also to re-negotiate existing terms.  Our consulting team has experience on both the payor and the provider sides of the table and we routinely negotiate terms/payment rates and participation status on behalf of urgent care centers around the United States.
