Urgent Care America (UCA) was founded by a group of experienced executives interested in affecting a large-scale change in the fundamental delivery of primary care in the United States with the end result being the most efficient delivery model that creates the most accessible entry points, quality primary/urgent care and the most efficient network of services ever organized in this country.
The UCA tag line: "Synergizing the entrepreneurial spirit of the urgent care providers", is serious business to this company and its founder James A. "Tony" Barber. Having spent many years of his career in the hospital business and most recently having served as the head of nationally integrated physician network, Mr. Barber is very familiar with the inadequacies of the current system and the issues that limit access to care for patients on their terms. Mr. Barber founded UCA in recognition of what urgent care providers have accomplished in recent times to improve access and reduce cost and also to further develop and spread the model to virtually every community in the United States. Having identified the inadequacies of over-crowded hospital emergency rooms and the excessive cost structure that is inherently associated with them, urgent care centers represent an outstanding option for those in need of medical care for less severe illness and injury.
UCA is committed to the highest quality of care throughout its network and acknowledges the foregoing vision will only become a reality by setting and achieving the following:
- The integration of finest quality urgent care centers with proven commitment to quality service and care
- Adopting the highest service and clinical standards in the urgent care industry
- Providing an on-going measurement of achievement of clinical and service objectives as defined by published standards
- Providing a national database of credentials for all providers within the UCA network and updating it regularly.
The UCA model is is designed to enhance the the delivery of urgent care by working with independently owned and operated centers and networks of centers. By providing seamless delivery for more mobile patients via the use of Passport (link provided here), UCA breaches the barriers that have contributed to higher cost medical care and lacking service to patients seeking better access.
