The CEO and Chairman of Urgent Care America, James A. "Tony" Barber, was the keynote speaker for the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine's Annual Conference in San Diego, CA today. His presentation, "Complex Problems/Simple Solutions", focused on the statistics of the United States Healthcare system contrasted with those of the rest of the world and identified some obvious shortcomings that they point to.
"The entire urgent care sector of healthcare stands poised to significantly alter the landscape of the healthcare delivery system", said Barber to the audience. "With annual visits to extremely expensive hospital emergency departments now over 119 million and the acuity levels for patients visiting them becoming increasingly similiar to that of the patients being treated in the urgent care setting...for significantly less cost, the time is now for urgent care operators to better coordinate and connect for seamless delivery, lower cost and improved outcomes."
Mr. Barber is an occasional speaker on this topic and, more specifically, the "Statistics of Urgent Care".
